You will be the one managing MSCI’s interactions with policymakers and regulators and the one answering questions about who to talk to and which regulatory, legislative and broader public policy trends impact our business. On a daily basis you can expect to be analyzing data, listening and creatively identifying solutions in partnership with our internal stakeholders to share our vision and perspective with policymakers and regulators in the region.

You will be a valued team member of our small, but impactful, Government and Regulatory Affairs (GRA) team which helps shape the public policy strategy for MSCI and engages with policymakers and regulators globally to support the commercial goals, risk management and corporate strategy of the Company.

Your key responsibilities –

This role is a new function at MSCI and looks to launch our stakeholder engagement program in the region. Working closely with the business, this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic self-starter to create, and maintain, a stakeholder engagement program and horizon screening for the identification, analysis and communication of policy developments. In particular, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

supporting the development of MSCI’s policy priorities and advocacy strategies

monitoring regulatory and legislative developments for effective and efficient information dissemination to GRA, the business and our clients

leading on the development of a stakeholder map and building a strong network of policymakers in the region to facilitate dialogue on policy initiatives impacting MSCI and our clients

ensuring that MSCI’s interactions with government officials and regulators in the region align with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements

supporting business representatives to establish proactive and constructive relationships with policymakers and regulators

as an expert on regulation and policymaking, assisting MSCI business teams and clients on navigating laws and regulations relevant to MSCI and our clients

supporting the development of a policy trend analysis to facilitate the understanding of any proposed legal or regulatory developments that may impact MSCI and/or our clients

advising on regional geopolitical developments and their implications for MSCI

supporting the GRA team in delivering against defined strategies and goals

working with, and managing, external consultants

Your skills and experience that will help you excel –

The ideal candidate will have an overall experience of at least 10 years in a similar role or a role in government or with a regulator in helping design and implement legislative or regulatory policy in the financial services and/or information/data sectors. They will have:

a proven ability to work as an individual and lead initiatives through to completion with minimal supervision

a thorough understanding of policymaking in the U.S. (necessary) and the broader region (preferred)

an ability to develop and articulate positions on complex public policy issues, including in financial and data services

an ability to act independently but also within a team environment

a combination of political and commercial acumen

competence in written and oral communication

a willingness to learn and facilitate business understanding of regulatory and policy developments
