The USA Road & Gravel Category Leader is responsible for the strategic vision and overall programming within the US market for Road & Gravel bikes. They are accountable for the product mix, revenue and margin on a short- and long-term basis. They are expected to deeply understand the needs of the rider and are responsible for collaborating with a cross-functional team including product, sales, marketing, demand planning, and finance to achieve strategic goals.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Annual Strategic Category Planning & Management – 40%

  • Work closely with Global Road Product Leadership and Market Leadership to
  • plan category growth targets and budgets,
  • execute key projects and initiatives,
  • and develop multi-year strategy and business development plan for the category
  • Own US Road revenue and margin performance and ensure Specialized is the market leader in the space.
  • Shape inventory plans, sales programs, marketing campaigns, ownership experiences, and brand collaborations to support the comprehensive category strategy.
  • Review & approve, pricing, spec, colors, and forecasts for Road bikes.

Drive the Future State of the Business – 30%

  • Be the go-to-person for the USA for all things Road bikes and be the source of truth / representative for Road bikes in USA to Global Functions.
  • Consult USA Market and Global Leadership on multi-year product strategies to ensure that current strategy aligns with future state and that Specialized is delivering the most effective product lineup.

Creation & Management of 360° product releases in the USA – 20%

  • Organize comprehensive go-to-market strategies in USA for Road bikes. Lead cross-functional teams to execute.
  • Develop clear channel strategy including D2R, IBD, Owned Retail and Digital Partners
  • Define clear transition and markdown strategy to maintain brand/channel integrity profitability and stability.

  • Great organizational and analytical skills, with a track record of managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a well-established professional demeanor
  • Results-oriented with the ability to thrive in chaotic situations, turning ambiguity into actions across multi-functional teams
  • You’re collaborative within a team; leveraging the work of senior leaders, marketing, demand planning or product to deliver results in your market
  • You’re creative, innovative, and can see things from the rider’s perspective
  • Ability to empathize with rider experiences and predict future market trends through rider research
  • Strong desire to learn from and support a culturally diverse, multiply disciplined global team across the Specialized organization
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed work ethic
  • Flexibility for up to 25% overnight travel
  • College degree in Business, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Finance or Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in planning, project and/or product management
  • Sales/marketing experience in bicycles a plus
  • 7-8 year of sales, product, or related business experience
